بدأ تشييد أول هوسبيس في صعيد مصر، وربما في مصر كلها عام 2016 بعد عدة سنوات من التفكير والتخطيط له، وتفـَضـُّـل الأب الأسقف الجليل المتنيح أنبا فام ووكيله الأب القمص شنودة الصاوي خصيص قطعة أرض كبيرة داخل اسوار دير القديس أبونا يسى. وبذلت الدكتورة باسمة اديب أمينة الخدمة ومساعديها جهود جبارة تفوق الوصف في اتمام الصرح الطبي الذي يشمل دورين للهوسبيس في خلال ثلاث سنوات . والمبنى بخلاف اتساعه يتسم بالرقي والأناقة وتحيط به حديقة داخل سور، وهو معدْ لأستقبال مرضى قضاء اليوم ، وغرف أقامة للمرضى الداخلي، بالأضافة إلي قاعة كبيرة لعقد مؤتمرات. وفي احتفال مهيب تسوده البهجة، قام نيافة الأب الأسقف أنبا اسحق بأفتتاحه وسط جمع كبير من طما ومن خارجها

The purpose-built Pope Shenouda Hospice in Tema was inaugurated on the 31st Oct 2019. The spacious and constructed at a high standard building includes four bedrooms for eight inpatients and two-bedded rooms for chemotherapy
History
2008 – 2011 Paving the way to establish a palliative care service in Tema
Dr Nasser Eissa, a main founders of Global Cancer Care Egypt (GCCE), suggested to the president and key members of the charity initiate a palliative care service in Tema. Dr Nasser, born himself and has reltives in Tema, had strong ties with HG late Bishop Fam and many contacts in that town. He, alone, accompanied by GCCEChairman Nagui Isaac and individuals from their charity, and / or, mebers from Global Cancer Care Egypt-UK committee made many visits to see the initiative through. Lynne and Alison, British palliative nurses and members of GCCE-UK, accompanied by Nabil S Isshak, travelled yearly to Tema from the beginning of 2009, so did Chairman Frank Neal, to teach palliative care and demonstratesimple ways to apply. Dr Frank on his visit in November 2011 has also examined a number of cancer patients at their home.
In June 2010 HG Late Bishop Fam decided to provide two flats in a building in the district of Sahel to accommodate the cancer service. The service was named ‘St.Mark’, to be supervised byrRev Soriel. A year or more after functioning the service at this location, it moved to another church building near the town centre and given the current name ‘’Pope Shenouda the Third’’.
In the beginning a top, rather small and difficult to reach by stairs, two flats were used; soon , however, the spacious ground hall of the building was acquired, refurbished , and decorated to conduct the service.

حديث مع نيافة مثلث الرحمات الأنبا فام اسقف طما عن اقامة خدمة رعاية اراحية (تلطيفية) لمرضى الأورام
بدأت الخدمة في طما بناء على اقتراح د.ناصر عيسى احد مؤسسي جمعية جلوبال مصر لرعاية مرضى الأورام، وهو نفسه من مواليد طما وله أقرباء ومعارف كثيرين فيها، بالأضافة إلى العلاقة القوية التي كانت له بمثلث الرحمات نيافة الأنبا فام
وبعد مناقشة الفكرة مع المهندس ناجي صبري اسحق رئيس مجلس ادارة الجمعية وبعض اعضاءها قام د.ناصر بالعديد من الزيارت بمفرده، وبعضها مع المهندس ناجي وبعض من اعضاء الجمعية. كذلك قام د. ناصر بدعوة مسز لين بوتار ، و مسز اليسون ريتز، و د.فرانك نيل، و د.نبيل اسحق لتفقد المكان وترتيب محاضرات وجلسات تدريب مهدت الطريق بعد حوالي عامين لقيام الخدمة، أولاً في مبنى خدمات بمنطقة الساحل تحت رعاية الأب الكاهن سوريال باسم “مار مرقس”، لتنتقل بعد ذلك إلى مبنى خدمات قريب من مركز البلد تحت اشراف د.بسمة أديب، وبأسم “البابا شنودة الثالث”

The plan Dr Basma Adib leader of the palliative care service thought of, greatly encouraged by Late Bishop Fam to construct a purpose-built hospice was like a dream materialized in a remarkably short time. Granting Basma a large piece of land for free by his grace within the ground of Abouna Yassa Monastery, obtaining permission from the local authority, generous donation by many, all added to the bishop’s support and Basma’s tireless efforts, to see the project through.
بعد أن قامت الدكتورة بسمة بانشاء مركز الرعاية الأراحية (التلطيفية) الذي نجح في خدمة الكثير من مرضى الأورام، جال في خاطرها انشاء مبنى هوسبيس في أراضى ادير أبونا يسى البعيد عن زحام البلد، من طابقين، الأول لأنشطة “قضاء اليوم” مع التمتع بهدوء وجمال المكان، والجو الروحي الذي يغمره، والدور الثاني خاص بأقامة المرضى المحتاجين لرعاية خاصة لا تتوافر في منازلهم. وقد لقيت الفكرة كبير من نيافة المتنيح الأنبا فام اسقف طما، وجناب الأب القمص شنودة الصاوي اللذين تفضلا بمنح قطعة أرض حوالي الف خمسمائة متر مربع للمشروع وتسهيل اعمال البناء والحصول على التصريحات اللازمة، هذا التشجيع وتلك التسهيلات، مع الجهد الرائع الذي بذلته، ومازالت تبذله الدكتورة بسما، وكرم الكثيرين الذين تبرعوا لأعمال البناء وتشطيبه وتجهيزه، اسهموا في تحقيق حلم إلى واقع، وفي فترة قياسية من الزمن

The celebrations and trips arranged by volunteers serving mobile cancer patients and members of their families give them a great pleasure and lift their morale’s. This goes hand in hand with a group and individual spiritual programs, and, as much as feasible, medical and nursing care

هناك ازدياد في خدمة طما لرعاية مرضى الأورام في خلال العامين 2014 – 2015 ، ليس فقط على مستوى طما وأكثر من ثلاثين قرية محيطة بها ، ولكن في اقامة علاقة جيدة مع الهيئات العاملة في مستشفي الأورام بسوهاج ، والمشاركة واقامة مؤتمرات لنشر مبادئ الرعاية للبلاد القريبة من طما مثل البلينا وسوهاج. وفي سبتمبر 2014 وصل عدد المرضى الذين تم خدمتهم مائة مريض
By the years 2014 and 2015 there was a marked increase in Tema palliative care centre activities to serve cancer patients in Tema and more than thirty villages around. The reported number of patients cared for in Sep 2014 reached a hundred. Furthermore, conferences are held to spread the awareness of palliative care and its importance. A conference took place at St Shenouda Monastery, Sohag, on 21-23 Nov 2014 and attended by hundred and ten individuals, and another in 23 and 25 April 2015 at Abouna Yassa Monastery ( See Events & News). Furthermore, Tema Pall. Care Centre has established a link with Tumours Hospital of Sohag through visiting and giving presents to hospital patients, inviting hospital specialists to share in conferences, and following up patients the service were caring for before being admitted.

PURCHASE OF A MINIBUS
وبسبب اتساع هذه الخدمة كانت هناك حاجة ملحة لشـــراء ميكروباس لتسهيل الأنتقال إلى القري وتوصيل المرضى إلى المستشفيات. ومن ثم قام د.سامي واصف بجمع تبرعات من عدد من الأخوة في المملكة المتحدة. وأيضاً ساهم أجد شباب اللكنييسة ، مينا سليمان في ذلك بالمشي لاميال طويلة وجمع مبالغ من المشجعين على اساس عدد الأميال التي حققها. هذه التبرعات مثلت جزء كبير من ثمن الميكروباس تم اضافتها لما جمعه الخدام في طما نفسها
Towards the end of year 2014, Global Cancer Care Egypt-UK contributed a good part of price of a minibus desperately needed for Tema service, the rest was collected in Tema itself. The charity acknowledge the efforts of DR Samy Wassef in getting donations from brothers and sisters in the UK, and also of one of Rotherham Church youth, Mina Soliman for getting sponsorship for running long distance
