Global Cancer Care

Nabil Isshak and Isis Sidhom, GCCE-UK coordinators, approached Global Cancer Care charity, in 2001, seeking advice on establishing a palliative care service in Egypt. Nabil and Isis met GCC trustees: T.J.Dineen, R. Morrell, A Davidson, and the late S. Thistlewayte on several occasions during the following six years. In 2007 Global Cancer Care trustees formally accepted the palliative care running in Egypt to work under their auspices and assigned Richard Morrell as a finance adviser. His expertise and guidance in financial matters provided valuable support to GCCE in ensuring effective management and allocation of resources for their palliative care initiatives in Egypt.

This significant step demonstrated the recognition and support of GCC for the work being carried out by GCCE in Egypt. The affiliation between GCCE and Global Cancer Care, forged through the efforts of Nabil Isshak, Isis Sidhom, and the trustees of both organizations, has facilitated the development and continuation of palliative care services in Egypt. This collaboration has allowed GCCE to benefit from the experience and support of Global Cancer Care, ultimately leading to improved care for cancer patients in Egypt.
