Rotary Worcester Board March, in support of GCCE-UK
The Board March held on 16th June was led by Malvern Company Girls Brigade Band. The boards, each supporting the work of an active charity, were carried by the Worcester Rotarians followed by some of their members and friends

Dr Nabil Sisostris took part in arranging the visits to the centres of upper Egypt, at Tema, Tahta, and Abo-Qorqas and he and Dr Basma Adib accompanied Samy and Nabil in these visits. Basma and members of her service team took Samy, Nabil and Nabil to Abona Yassa Monastery to inspect the under-construction hospice building, approaching now it’s final stage. It’s remarkable how much done in eighteen months almost exclusively from local donations.
قام د.نبيل صبري اسحق و د.سامي واصف بزيارة مراكز الخدمة في مصر، وقد ساهم د.نبيل سيزوستريس في ترتيب زيارة مراكز الصعيد (طهطا وطما و أبوقرقاص)، وشارك هو والدكتورة بسمة أديب أمينة خدمة طما في تلك الزيارات.
وفي طما اصطحبت بسمة وبعض الخدام العاملين معها سامي ونبيل ونبيل إلى دير أبونا يسى لمعاينة مبنى “الهوسبيس” الجديد بعد مرور حوالي ثماني عشر شهر من البدء في بناءه. وعظمة البناء وسرعة العمل فيه أمر يثير الأعجاب ويشهد بجهد الدكتورة بسمة والعاملين معها، وهي لاتكف عن ذكر تشجيع ومباركة المتنيح نيافة الأنبا فام لها والدور الكبير الذي يقوم به جناب القمص شنودة الصاوي وكيل المطرانية. وجدير بالذكر أن تكاليف بناء هذا الصرح الطبى يتم التبرع به على المستوى المحلي
الدور الأرضى و الأول العلوي بمدخل خاص سيكونا للـ “الهوسبيس”، ، والبدروم اسفله مـُخـَــصـَّص لعمل مستوصف، والدور الثالث والرابع سيخصصا لأقامة المسنين. ثم هناك دور خامس، ودور سادس للخدمات الطبية الأخرى. وتجدر الأشارة أن مساحة الدور حوالي 500 متر مربع، وهناك مساحة حوالي 1000 متر مربع ستكون معظمها حديقة (راجع موقع خدمة البابا شنودة . طما)

A two days conference for volunteers serving in Global Cancer Care Egypt-UK attached centres. The conference, arranged by Dr Maher Hermina, Mr Ashraf Rasmy and Dr Yousef Labib Aziz, president, general secretary, and treasurer of Global Cancer Care Egypt , Embaba \ Al-Warrak, took place in the Red Sea resort of St. Paul Monastery. مؤتمر عام لخدام مراكز جلوبال في مضيفة دير الأنبا بولا بالبحر الأحمر يومي الجمعة والسبت 20 ، 21 اكتوبر 2017، حضره خدام جمعيات جلوبال (الوراق والأسكندرية وعزبة الخل وطما وطهطا)، وخدام مرضى الأورام (القديسة أغاثا) في أبوقرقاص، وخدام المرضى بطنطا (مجموعة د.سهير كامل صليب)، و بلغ العدد الكلي 116.

Fifth Palliative Care Conference in Menya arranged by Dr Farid Girgis, Raga Charity chairman and held under the auspices of HG Bishop Makarios was attended by 215 volunteers serving patients suffering from cancer and other serious diseases.
المؤتمر الخامس للرعاية التلطيفية لخدام المرضى بالمنيا وأبوقرقاص والبلاد المجاورة، تحت رعاية صاحب النيافة الأنبا مكاريوس. وصل عدد الحضور 215 ، ساهم في اعداد المؤتمر الدكتور فريد جرجس أمين خدمة الرجاء المقيم بالمملكة المتحدة ودكتورشريف زكري مسئول خدمتها في المنيا، ودكتورة فيبي نعيم من خدمة القديسة أغثا أبوقرقاص، والدكتورة بسمة أديب أمينة خدمة البابا شنودة بطما.
A meeting took place to bring into effect the memorandum of understanding between representatives of GCCE-UK and of the cancer serving group of St.Agatha Charity based in Abu-Qurqas, Menya, As proposed in May 2017 St. Stephanos Ain-Shams 82 Medical represented by Dr Nabil Sisostris and Dr Mary Fawzi, in Egypt, and Dr Ashraf Soliman, in the UK agreed to work along GCCE-UK in supporting the St. Agatha service.

Meeting a priest in New Cairo, Rev Shenouda Mansour, who is keen to provide an accommodation for terminally ill cancer patients who have no body to look after. Fr Shenouda is running a residence to care for about two hundreds mentally handicapped individuals of different ages in two large buildings. He likes to use a third building under construction to accommodate the cancer patients specified
مقابلة الأب القمص شنودة منصور في مركز خدمة المعاقين نفسياً وعصبياً في طريق مصر الأسماعيلية ، بالقرب من سوق العبور الذي أنشأه ويشرف عليه . وقد أراد القمص شنودة أن يعرف من نبيل صبري اسحق وسامي واصف تفاصيل أكثر عن خدمة جلوبال مصر-انجلترا، وبالأخص تلك التي تـُقـَدَم لمرضى الأورام في المراحل المتقدمة ممن لا تسمح ظروفهم الأقامة في منازلهم أو وجود من يرعاهم . وقد أبدى القمص شنودة استعداده العناية بمثل هؤلاء المرضي بتوفير اقامة مجانية كاملة في مبنى الخدمة الثالث القائم حالياً على بنائه. وقد رحـَب سامي ونبيل بهذا الأستعداد على أساس قيام مركز جلوبال الوراق ، و عزبة النخل بتحويل مرضاهم المحتاجين تلك الخدمة إلى دار ايواء أبونا شنودة ، وتوفير خدام من جمعيات جلوبال أو من خارجها ، خاصة من الأطباء والتمريض، لرعاية هؤلاء المرضى وكذلك بحث امكانية جمعيتي جلوبال مصر انجلترا والقديس اسطفانوس82 في تقديم مساعدة مالية لمركز الأيواء في هذه المرحلة أو في مرحلة مستقبلية لتحقيق هذا الهدف

A leader in standards of palliative care has welcomed a Cairo nurse to its team. Chiefs at St Luke’s Hospice in Whirlow said they are “always delighted to welcome visitors interested in end of life nursing” and the hospice team were particularly pleased to host Cairo nurse Nermeen Nageh Moushrkey.
The nurse initially came to Sheffield as part of a special project organised by Global Cancer Care Egypt-UK, the charity launched to introduce palliative care to Egypt. Egypt does not yet have a hospice movement – though the country’s first hospice is currently being built in capital city Cairo. Nermeen was in Sheffield to understand more fully how British levels of palliative care could be adopted to meet the needs of her home country.
“Cancer is spreading more in Egypt and we need to start palliative care,” she said. “There is very little concept of it and there is not much information about what it is and what it can do for the patient and that’s what I want to learn about.” During her visit to St Luke’s Nermeen spent time in the hospice’s In Patient Centre and in the Therapies and Rehabilitation Centre as well as joining the St Luke’s Community Nursing team. “It helped me know more about end-of-life care, how to deal with things like psychological support and what the nursing role is,” she added.
We just don’t have this system in Egypt but we have many patients who have cancer and need support.” The chairman of GCCE-UK, Lynne Potter, said: “Through the twinning of GCCE-UK with St Luke’s, the hospice’s expertise is having an influence in the care provided to patients and their families as far away as Egypt! “Nermeen enjoyed her time here and felt she learnt a lot to take back and apply in Egypt.”

هيئة العاملين في هوسبيس سانت لوك في شيفيلد يبنهجوا دائماً ويرحبوا بالزوار المهتمين بالرعاية الأراحية للمرضي في مراحل المرض المتأخرة.. و حالياً سعداء بالأكثر لأستضافتهم للممرضة نرمين ناجح مشرقي القادمة من القاهرة . جاء الترتيب لتلك الزيارة من خلال مشروع خاص لجمعية جلوبال مصر انجلترا لرعاية مرضى الأورام بالتضامن مع هوسبيس سانت لوك. ولا يوجد حالياً هوسبيسات في مصر باستثناء واحد جارى انشاءه في القاهرة. وتسعي نرمين نحو تفـَهـُّم أكثر في امكانية تطبيق اسلوب الرعاية التلطيفية (الأراحية) حسب مستواه في انجلترا واحتياجات مصر له. وقد صرحت نرمين أن “الأورام منتشرة في مصر ونحن في حاجة للبدأ في الرعاية التلطيفية ” خاصة وأن المعروف عنها شحيح.
تقول أيضاً نرمين بعد مشاهدة كيفية تطبيق الرعاية في الأقسام المختلفة في الهوسبيس وفي المجتمع خارجه، “ساعدتني تلك الزيارات على فهم رعاية المرضى قرب نهاية العمر، واشياء مثل التدعيم النفسي ودور الممرضات”
وصرحت لين بوتار رئيسة مجلس ادارة “جمعية مصر-انجلترا لرعاية مرضى الأورام” أن التعاون القائم بين الجمعية و “هوسبيس سانت لوك” القائم على “توأمتهم” ساعدت على الأستفادة من خبراء الرعاية التلطيفية في الهوسبيس وامتداد تلك الخبرة اميال طويلة لتصل مصر

DR.N S Isshak., and Dr.Nasser Eissa president of Global Care Egypt met together, with Dr Baheir Wadeih, and Dr.Khalil Gamal, of Christian Medical Fellowship, and with local priests to look into conducting the service to a local church. Pharmacist Mariam Abd-al-Malak who recently joined the service, and dental doctor Alice of the CMF were invited to join in these meetings and share the service in its new location

بمناسبة مرور عشرة سنوات على بدأ خدمة جلوبال مصر – انجلترا ، اقيمت حفلة موسيقية في كاتدرائية كل القديسين بروذرهام في يوم 30 يونيو ،2012 شارك في تأدية الكونسرت عدد من الموسقيين المصريين المشهورين بقيادة الأب القس موسى رشدي.
وبعدها بأسبوعين قام أعضاء ادارة الجمعيىة من الأقباط بدعوة فرانك نيل ورتشارد مورِل ولين بوتر وأليسون ريتز لمأدبة عشاء، تم أثناءها تكريمهم وتقديم الزهور لهم على ما بذلوه من جهد في المساعدة على انشاء مراكز علاج إراحي في مصر على ما يقرب من عشرة سنوات

SEARCHING FOR NEW GROUNDS. VISITS TO SOHAG & ASWAN
GCCE-UK worked hard during years 2010 to 2012 to consolidate and improve on what achieved, and seek new grounds. Frank Neal, chairman of the service expressed his great satisfaction after his last Oct/Nov 2011 visit to Egypt, the 6th on a row, travelling from Alexandria, north, to Aswan, south.

حضر الأب االراهب يوحنا المحرقي والأب يوأنس المسئولين على مستشفي سانت ماريا l التابعة لدير المحرق بأسيوط مؤتمر الرعاية الأراحية الذي اقيم في درنكة (الثاني الذي عقد في أسيوط) في نوفمبر 2010، وقاما بطرح بعض الأسئلة الخاصة بعلاج والتعامل مع مرضى الأورام. وفي العام التالي في يوم 7 نوفمبر 2011 حضر القسين مؤتمر أسيوط الثالث وأبلغا فرانك نيل ونبيل اسحق وناصر عيسى عن وحدة الرعاية الأراحية التي قاما بالفعل بأنشاءه في الدور العلوي

Report on the activities of Lynne Potter, Community Specialist Palliative Care Nurse, and Alison Reitz, Macmillan Palliative Care Unit Manager on their Feb 2010 visit to Egypt
- Giza training presented to a mixed audience of approx. 50 individuals.
- The Monastery of the Virgin Mary, Dronka two day training to a mixed audience of approx. 100 individuals on each day
- Mary’s Church, Janakleez, Alexandria training presented to a mixed audience of 75 individuals, mainly volunteers,
- Institute of Oncology, University of Mansoura: training presented to a mixed audience of approx. 100 individuals including nurses, doctors, and nurse tutors.

Global Cancer Care Egypt (GCCE) provided the finance and support for Lynne Potter and Alison Reitz to join Dr Samira Gabra and Dr Ian Morgan (Marie Curie Hospice, Solihull) in forming a team providing education and training in palliative care to healthcare professionals and volunteers in Egypt.
** Teaching of nurses at the future building for St. Mark’s Hospice, Heliopolis, Cairo.
** Evening meeting with the Lions Heliopolis to discuss alternative involvement following their withdrawal from the National Hospice project.
** Community Nursing Conference, Faculty of Nursing, Ain- Shams University, Cairo.
** Morning Conference at the High Medical Research Institute in Alexandria. Subjects covered included: What is Palliative Care; Symptom Management; Psycho-spiritual Care; Specific Nursing Interventions.

During May 2007 an assessment of the state of the palliative care initiative in Egypt was carried out. This included visits to centres where palliative care was being provided or attempts were being made to initiate a service
*. Palliative care is not yet established in Egypt but there are several initiatives which should prove successful. It will take time for a comprehensive service to be established and ideally this will require governmental commitment and support. In the meantime, the initiative will have to rely on charitable monies. It is an expensive project in which education will have a vital place.
* There are many centres, based on Coptic Chur h congregations, where something similar to palliative care is provided for patients, with chronic and terminal diseases, by volunteers who provide funds for the service themselves. These centres would provide ideal foundations for palliative care centers and the church congregations have expressed an interest as a result of the educational programme initiated over the last five years.
* The two centres in Cairo and Alexandria are functioning satisfactorily in the circumstances. This may not equate with the concept of comprehensive care provided in the UK but it is certainly adequate at this stage and should develop into a much larger service.
* There is great demand for even more information on how to establish palliative care and this is the direct result of the various conferences held over the last five years. There is evidence that attitudes in both the medical profession and the laity are changing and there are initiatives to introduce formal palliative care education into the training of Health professionals.
* For the future, a more formal approach is required, including greater centralisation and the definition of a realistic strategy which will be a major task, considering the magnitude of the problem. It must be appreciated that much of this progress would not have taken place without the UK initiative over the last five years.

لا توجد في مصر حتى الآن رعاية اراحية بالمعنى المفهوم لها، لكن المبادرات الحادثة قادرة على أن تنجح. هذه الرعاية تحتاج وقت وميزانية و تولي الحكومة مسئولية قيامها، وبالطبع يظل التعليم محور اساسي لتحقيقها
هناك خدمات تقدم للمرضى الذين يعانوا من أسقام مزمنة وأمراض ذو خطورة في عدة كنائس يمكن النظر إليها كنوع من الرعاية الأراحية (التلطيفية)، وهي قائمة على التطوع سواء في تأديتها أو الأنفاق عليها. وليس من شك أن تلك الخدمات توفر ارضية مناسبة للرعاية الأراحية ، خاصة وقد وجدت قبول من الخدام في السنوات الخمسة الأخيرة
مركزي الخدمة في القاهرة والأسكندرية يؤديا خدمة معقولة حسب الأمكانيات المتاحة، ويـُتوقــَّع لها النمو، وإن كانت حالياً ليست على مستوى الرعاية الشاملة الموجودة في انجلترا

وما من شك هناك الكثير المطلوب عمله الذي يحتاج تنظيم مركزي و استراتيجية تطبيق ، فهذه مهمة ضخمة تتطلب تضافر الجهود. وفي نفس الوقت يجب الأعتراف بالدور الذي قامت به جمعية جلوبال مصر – انجلترا في الخمسة سنوات الأخيرة وتقدير النتائج التي انبثقـَت عن المبادرة البريطانية في هذا المضمار
2007 Cessation of GCCE-UK to work under the Coptic Medical Society (CMS) auspices
Two years following the initiation of the palliative care of July 2002, DR Isis Sidhom and DR Nabil Isshak negotiated with DR Nabil Rafael, secretary of the CMS, and agreed it works under the CMS umbrella . The CMS got recognition by the Commission of British Charities for the cancer care taking place in Egypt, and Isis and Nabil became trustees. They, consequently, asked people donating to their cancer service to pay their donations directly to the CMS treasury. Sadly, such arrangements caused Nabil and Isis cancer work in Egypt more harm than good. Leading CMS trustees opposed the way the work was conducted and suspended Nabil from his position as a trustee. In year 2007, Nabil Isshak and Isis Sidhom, and other members of the GCCE-UK withdrew from the CMS and worked under the auspices of the British registered Global Cancer Care charity instead.
Although the strife that took place is thing of the past and too complicated and unnecessary to discuss, what Dr Samira Iskander-Gabra wrote sheds light on it and documents her vital role in the service
بعد سنتين من الشروع في تحقيق مبادرة الرعاية الأراحية عام 2002، تواصل الدكتور نبيل صبري اسحق والدكتورة ايزيس سيدهم ، مع الدكتور نبيل روفائيل سكرتير الجمعية الطبية القبطية و اتفقوا ان تعمل المبادرة من خلال الجمعية الطبية التي تم تسجيلها فيما بعد كجمعية خيرية على اساس خدمة رعاية مرضى الأورام الجارية في مصر. وعليه انضم نبيل وايزيس إلى مجلس ادارة الجمعية، وطلبا من المتبرعين لخدمتهم ارسال تبرعاتهم مباشرة إلى أمين صندوق الجمعية
لكن للأسف أضر انضمام اعضاء جلوبال مصر – انجلترا إلى الجمعية الطبية بعملهم في مصر أكثر مما أفاد، ورفض القائمون عليها منهج نبيل اسحق في عمله وطالبوا بتجميد عضويته في مجلس الأدارة. وتحت هذه الظروف قرر نبيل وايزيس وباقي فريق مبادرة الرعاية الأراحية العاملين معهم عام 2007 الأنسحاب من الجمعية القبطية الطبية ، والعمل تحت مظلة جمعية جلوبل لرعاية مرضى الأورام Global Cancer Care المسجلة، ومقرها “سوانزي” Swansea
وبالرغم أن الخلاف الشديد وكل ما قيل في حق نبيل اسحق هي في زمن الماضى ، وتفاصيل المشاكل واسبابها معقدة ولا تستوجب الحديث عنها، إلى أن ما سجلته د.سميرة اسكندر جبرة خبيرة الرعاية الأراحية عنها جدير بالرجوع إليه ، خاصة وأنه يشمل تاريخ الدور الكبير الذي قامت به سميرة نفسها في الخدمة
‘’I have read with great interest the part of the CMS book dealing with the subject of the activities in the area of palliative/cancer care in Egypt.
I am grateful and, on behalf of all my colleagues who gave their time selflessly for this cause, I thank the kind acknowledgement of our contribution.
I, however would have liked a more strict adherence to the facts, and I feel that some explanation is owed to the members of the Coptic Medical Society; but first I wish to salute and to thank all the members for the goodness of their hearts and their generosity that allowed for the success of several activities of this team.
This success was surely not wholly dependant only on financial support but in a greater measure to your prayers and an effective coordination, management and dedication of the team. I would like to mention the historical background to this cancer care movement and its development in Egypt.
- This initiative started 2 years before it was adopted by the CMS
- It was born separately and amazingly in Nabil Isshak’s mind and my thinking in the same year. Each one of us separately sought contacts in Egypt with the conviction that people need to know that it is possible to reduce the unnecessary suffering of people with advanced cancer and in the terminal phase to them to face death with dignity and peace. Our aim was to inform and teach and equip doctors, nurses and volunteers and to open the door to training either in England or in Egypt.
- In that first year I visited and lectured and held meetings in Ragaa Ard El Golf , The Evangelical Hospital, the Caritas organisation (who played a large part in setting up the meeting with his holiness the Pope Shenouda III and as a result of His approval paved the way for expansion of palliative care) as well as the Heliopolis church of Mari Guirguis.
- It was at this point that Nabil and I were introduced to each other and felt a united call to expand this vision on the basis of education and training to as wide an audience as possible motivating them to develop this way of help and service to their immediate respective communities and to as many people as possible.
- This joining rank with Nabil has freed me from trying to find contacts or organise events. His wide circle of friends and contacts made it possible for us to reach a large number of volunteers in many cities and many communities up and down the country. I attest to Nabil’s excellent coordination and his energetic zeal without which none of us of this palliative team could have achieved the level of effectiveness we wished for in our educational programmes.
- Most of our British volunteers who joined were recruited and enthused by the tireless efforts of Dr Nabil Isshak (except for Dr Ian Morgan who is my colleague at Marie Curie). He made a substantial effort to aid Father Lamie in planning training for doctors in local British hospices and in sending our nursing team to train nurses and nursing assistants in Heliopolis.
- After several years of activities at the level of churches the team felt that education and information should be available to the community at large, and we turned our sight to Medical and Nursing Institutions. There was a strong opposition from the trustees of the CMS who wanted funds to be directed to patients. I, myself, believe that there will never be enough raised funds in the UK to finance hospices and that these should be raised locally supported by local charities as long as people are given the tools and the know-how to proceed.
- It is very regrettable that differences arising in these matters have led to personal and not- so- pleasant attacks and acrimony that only
reaped hampering of this excellent work and proceeded to create an unsettled feeling within the membership and donors of the CMS.
I wrote this explanation because in my own ethical beliefs and not least to my Christian belief, I am committed to fairness and justice. I did not expect the omission of the role Dr Nabil Isshak played in the achievement claimed by the society. We the Palliative team are indebted to him.’’

قرأت باهتمام ما جاء في كتاب الجمعية الطبية القبطية في الجزء الخاص عن نشاطها في مجال الرعاية الأراحية في مصر.وأنا ممنونة لزملائي الذين ضحوا وبذلوا من وقتهم. لكني اريد التمسك بالحقائق التي احتاج أن اوضحها لأعضاء الجمعية الطبية القبطية، وإن كنت في المقام الأول اريد أن احييهم واشكرهم على كرمهم وقلوبهم الخيـِّرة التي أدت إلى نجاح فريق الخدمة في عدة انشطة.
هذا النجاح لم يتوقف كليةعند الدعم المالي، لكن بقدر كبير على صلواتكم، وحسن التنسيق والأدارة وتكريس الفريق. ولكني احب ذكر الخلفية التاريخية لحركة الرعاية الأراحية وتطورها في مصر
1 بدأت المبادرة عامين قبل عملها من خلال الجمعية الطبية القبطية
2 ومن العجيب أن فكرتها نبعت في ذهن نبيل اسحق ، وفي ذهني في نفس السنة، وسعي كلا مننا دون علم الآخر للتواصل مع من يهمه تقليل معاناة من هم في مراحل الأورام المتقدمة، وما قبل الموت وتحقيق الكرامة والسلام لهم. وعليه كان هدفنا تعليم وتوصيل المعلومات اللازمة لذلك للأطباء والممرضات والمتطوعين، وفتح أبواب التدريب لهم سواء في انجلترا أو مصر
3 وفي السنة الأول قمت بزيارة جمعية الرجاء بأرض الجولف، والمستشفى الأنجيلي، وجمعية كاريتاس، والقيت فيها عدة محاضرات بالأضافة لعقد اجتماعات مع مسئوليها. وكان التواصل مع كاريتاس فضل مقابلة قداسة البابا شنودة الثالث الذي كان لقبوله تلك الخدمة دور هام في نموها. (كذلك كنيسة مارجرجس بهليوبوليس)
- عند هذه النقطة تعرفت على نبيل وتحققنا من الدعوة المشتركة لكي نتوسع في تعليم وتدريب قدر اوسع من المستمعين ، والعمل على تحفيذهم لتطوير مساعدتهم وخدمتهم لمنفعة المحتاجين القريبين منهم ولأكبر عدد ممكن من الناس
5 التوافق في القيام بالخدمة مع نبيل اعطاني حرية في الوقت الذي كان سيستهلك في البحث عن معارف وتنظيم المناسيات (من مؤتمرات واجتماعات وغيرها). ودائرة معارفه سهلن الوصول إلى اعداد كبيرة من المتطوعين على مستوى المجموعات وفي بلاد هنا وهناك (في مصر). وأنا أشهد لمقدرته العظيمة في التنسيق وطاقة الحماس لديه التي بدونها ما استطاع أحد من فريق خدمة الرعاية الأراحية حقق مستوى فاعلية البرامج التعليمية التي كنا نسعى إليها
6 ومعظم المتطوعين البريطانيين الذين التحقوا بالخدمة هم ممن توصل إليهم د. نبيل اسحق وحمسهم على ذلك بأستثناء د.ايان مورجان زميلي في هوسبيس ماري كيورى الذي قمت أنا بدعوته. وجهود نبيل المضنية شملت الأب (داود) لمعي الذي عمل على مساعدته بترتيب تدريب اطباء من عنده في انجلترا، وتوجيه فريق تمريضنا ( جلوبال مصر انجلتر) ا لتمرين ممرضات ومساعدات ممرضات من عنده في هيليوبوليس
7 وعقب المحاضرات والتدريب الذي جرى في عدد من الكنائس ، أدرك فريق العمل ضرورة القيام بنشاط مماثل على المستوى القومي مما جعلنا نتجه نحو الكليات والمعاهد الطبية والتمريضية. وقد نتج عن ذلك مقاومة شديدة من أعضاء مجلس ادارة الهيئة الطبية القبطية الذين ارادوا ان تنفـَـق تبرعاتها على المرضى فقط . وأنا عن نفسى لا اعتقد امكانية تحصيل القدر الكافي من التبرعات من انجلترا لأنشاء هوسبيسات في مصر والصرف عليها، إذ يجب الأعتماد على التبرعات المحلية ومساهمة الهيئات الخيرية في مصر، طالما وفرنا لهم أدوات تحقيق الخدمة و معرفة كيف يقوموا بها
