Mahraty, a 13-year-old girl, experienced a life-changing incident while playing with her friends in the church courtyard. A fall left her unable to rise, and subsequent hospitalization and investigations revealed a spinal cord tumour, resulting in paralysis of her lower body. Mahraty remained in a paralysed state thereafter, causing profound psychological impact on both her and her family.
The additional financial strain of hospital transportation further compounded the family’s distress.
The Tema centre, supported by GCCE-UK, played a crucial role in providing frequent supportive visits and care to Mahraty. The charity also supplied a wig to Mahraty, offering her comfort and confidence during this challenging journey. She peacefully passed away in February 2022.
